Guess when this picture was taken? Hint 1: The Tatung Co. billboard in the background touts “domestic appliances, fans and refrigerators.” (The company did not begin manufacturing Taiwan-made refrigerators until 1961.) Hint 2: The red building on the right, where the Government Information Office was located, was demolished in 1985. Hint 3: The Isuzu bonnet bus in the foreground was one of 47 purchased from Japan by the Taipei City Bus Office in 1956. These iconic vehicles shuttled throughout Taipei City until they were replaced by air-conditioned buses in 1979.
