Description

Premier Lai Ching-te makes a third trip to Chiayi County to review relief work and console affected residents in the wake of a slow-moving tropical depression that caused severe flooding in southern Taiwan in late August 2018. The premier said that following the cleanup, the government’s next goal is to work in concert with local governments to thoroughly plan needed water management projects, and then tap private-sector resources to ensure they are implemented. Citing the Water Act’s provisions for runoff allocation and outflow control, Premier Lai called for practical action that will improve the resilience of towns and cities nationwide and protect land resources.
