Description

Kaohsiung City was upgraded into a special municipality on July 1, 1979, with the inauguration ceremony held at Kaohsiung City Hall that morning. Premier Sun Yun-suan officiated the new mayor’s oath of office and delivered a speech at the ceremony. Sun congratulated Kaohsiung City and encouraged all its civil servants, citizens and city councilors to work together to develop it into a modern international metropolis.
